“Why Drone Warfare is Wrong & What We Can Do About It,” Speaker: Robert Naiman

               Thursday April 25, 2013, 7:30pm

              ARMS 1010, Purdue University

U.S drone strikes in Pakistan are coming under unprecedented scrutiny. Recent reports highlight civilian deaths, "signature strikes" against unknown targets, "secondary strikes" that include attacks on civilian rescuers, and that the drone strike policy is turning Pakistani public opinion against the United States. Many are questioning if they are a breach of international law and ask why President Obama has not shared information with Congress and the public.

Free and open to the public.

Robert Naiman is Policy Director at Just Foreign Policy. He edits the Just Foreign Policy news summary and writes on U.S. foreign policy at Huffington Post and is president of the board of Truthout. In October 2012, Naiman participated in a delegation of American peace activists who went to Pakistan to protest U.S. drone strike policy. He has masters degrees in economics and mathematics from the
University of Illinois and has studied and worked in the Middle East.
